While I was in North India I decided to travel to a 'new town' called Chandigargh to check out the famous rock garden there, and it was AMAZING! The story goes that a man called Nek Chand built the entire place secretely over the course of about 30 years using rubbish from the demolition of the original Chandigargh town. He was only discovered in 1975 and now his creation has become a national treasure, what a crazy brilliant man he must be!

You can read the whole story on Wikipedia here

The Carnival!!!!

Hey everyone!
Well I have finally finished the book that I mentioned a little while ago, it is called The Carnival and is about a boy called Ben and the experiences he has when he gets lost at a carnival. Some of it is a little scary, but it has a bit of a twist and a happy ending so that's the main thing! Anyway the whole book was made three-dimensionally within a massive bookshelf (what else!?) using a combination of clay, paper, wood, fabric, paint, glue and loads of other stuff(!) and then photographed to create the actual story book. So today I have finally sent of the finished book to the printers and so here is a sneak peak at just some of the images from it! phew..

The Carnival

Hey guys, well I promised the other day that I would keep you up to speed with the progress of this momentous project that I'm working on, so here are some of the latest images! The lights finally arrived(!), so I have started putting those in, but still have a VERY long way to go. I find that as I go along things naturally change and work themselves out, sometimes it's daunting but mostly it's exciting! I really don't know what it's going to look like when its finished, but that's all part of the fun!!! xx

The Carnival

Here is one of the first progress shots from a new project i'm working on, it is a story book about a boy called Ben who gets lost at a carnival, and the whole thing is being built three-dimensionally into a big bookshelf! (hard to explain but hopefully the proof will be in the pudding) When it is finished it will be lit with hundreds of sparkly fairy lights, in the dark, to hopefully capture the carnival atmosphere! The whole long process will be documented here, so check back :)
